Dear GAP,

Two old people "over the hill"

with a grown up place on Mangum Mill.

With pen in hand we would like to start

to say "thank you" from a grateful heart.

You came to us on a beautiful day

and worked long hours without any pay.

You cut the grass and the weeds that grew

to make our dear home look all brand new.

Up on the house top like good St. Nick

you blew off the leaves and the last little stick.

You noticed our flag that was tattered and torn,

because of you a new "Old Glory" was born.

You replaced the dangerous boards on our deck

and for this we gave a big hug 'round the neck.

No job too big or none to small,

with love and interest you did them all!

Our thanks to Lee also, a wonderful giver,

with love flowing down like the Hudson River.

No finer group we have ever met

You seem to love giving more than to get.

Now abideth faith, hope, love and the GAP,

We pray for you now and want you ALL back.!!

God Bless each and every heart,

Vernon and Margaret Grimes

Dear GAP,

We can never remember what the letters of GAP stand for so we made up our own, “Great Active People.”

It is hard to express our thoughts and feelings for the Great Active People that have come our way. Thanks for the fun, friendship and the contribution that you have made in our lives.  The role model of the leaders and fellowship of the girls and boys that make up GAP has been outstanding.

We are happy to have a beautiful and brand new deck as a result of your labors.

Two wonderful leaders did a great job – Smith and Chuck.

These names have meaning. The bible says,“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.

Look with me at these names, letters as pegs to hang thoughts.

S M I T H  -  S is for Smith,, indeed a good name. We are not sure if it is good because it is just good or because there are so many of them! Looking in the phone book – there are 10 pages of Browns, 16 pages of Jones, AND 26 pages of Smiths!

Look with me at the worth of these men and their crew.

S is for Smile – Smith and crew worked with a smile.

S is for Strong – Strong in conviction, work ethics and moral character.

S is for Skilled – Workman skilled in the trade. “A workman that needeth not to be ashamed.”

M is for Master - Master of knowledge of work and master in dedication to the Master for

whom they work.

I is for investment.  This group is making an investment in the Kingdom of God.  If a cup of cold water has its reward, think of the investment GAP is making.

T is for Thankful.  Thankful for the opportunity to serve and thankful for the new friends made through labor and personality.

H is for Happy, Health, Heritage and Hope of Heaven.

SMITH – is the Spirit of GAP.

C H U C K  - equals GAP

C is for Christ like, in vision and in service.

H is for Humble. - Leadership with humility, a gift of special virtue.

U is for Unselfish. – “More blessed to give than receive”

C is for Concern. – Concern for the welfare of others. “Others Lord-yes others.  Let this my motto be.

Keep one to live for others that longest live like thee.”

K is for Kind. – The milk of human kindness flows freely from his lips and actions to the wonderful people to whom he is a role model.

CHUCK – is the Spirit of GAP.

Put these pegs together.  SMITHCHUCK and herein is the Spirit of GAP.

Thank you GAP, for all you do for us. And for so many others whom you touch with your gift of love and service.

God bless each of you,

Vernon and Margaret Grimes
