This past Saturday (Oct. 11,
2003) we had another wonderful mini-Gap, but this one had a different,
shall I say, flavor to it. None of the regular gappers other than the
drivers showed up. Instead we were blessed with some rather fine students
from North Georgia College to fill the void. I know some of these guys and
ladies had little or no clue what they were getting themselves into, but
they jumped right in there despite the miserable weather and chill in the
air. They got muddy, covered with sawdust, and even a few had to come out
of their sweats. Yes, some actually exerted enough energy to warm the air
a touch.
Those that had the honor of being in my company all day
were a great lot; we had no ego trips, no question on our mission we all
did what was to be done. Anybody else would have thought we had been
working together for days before, instead of not even knowing each other
but a few hours, Thinking outside the box was one of the things I noticed
the group was capable of
doing. I guess that’s why
they is college kids. I asked them if all of this was worth
an “A” and they all agreed it was well worth it.
I enjoyed Saturday’s mini-Gap and I do hope the that those who came this past weekend will return to a summer session and enjoy a full-fledged weekend of GAP.
